Camp Gailor-Maxon Details
Activities
At Camp
Gailor-Maxon, campers enjoy games, crafts, songs, sports, programs, worship and
general silliness during the day. Afternoon activities include hikes in the
nearby South Cumberland State Park, Swimming, Rappelling, Water Games, Drama,
Music, Arts & Crafts, Field Games, Off-Campus trips to the University of
the South at Sewanee, and a Day of Service, in which campers choose a service
project to do. Evening activities may include: Bonfire, Trip to All
Saints’ Chapel-Sewanee, Carnival/Dance, Counselor Hunt, Capture the Flag, Field
Games, CGM Olympics, or Night Swim. Our programming focuses on
helping kids explore their faith and experience living in their own Christian
community.
Room & Board
Campers sleep bunk-style
in cabins and eat hearty, home-style meals in the Dining Room in historic Claiborne Hall.
Staff
Our
2012 camp co-directors are Cameron Wallace Swallow and Kathryn Elam
Jasper, both school teachers during the academic year. Our program staff is led by a
full-time camp chaplain, usually an Episcopal Seminary student, and a clergy
member-in-residence. College Students serve as cabin and activity
counselors.
